Educated as a graphic artist at the American Academy of Art in Chicago during the early 1970's, Rick Ford spent his early professional career in commercial advertising. In 1982, he decided to devote his full attention to painting. Since then, his work has been displayed in numerous exhibitions at galleries around the country. Working in pastel, oil, watercolor and pencil, Ford's style ranges from photorealistic to soft representational.
Ford's work appears in private collections throughout the United States. His honors include awards from the Pastel Society of America, the Pastel Society of the West Coast, the Pastel Society of the Southwest, the Pastel Journal Magazine and the Scarab Club of Detroit.
